An intense look at the rules of high school attraction -- and the price that's paid for them.It happens every year. A list is posted, and one girl from each grade is chosen as the prettiest, and another is chosen as the ugliest. Nobody knows who makes the list. It almost doesn't matter. The damage is done the minute it goes up.This is the story of eight girls, freshman to senior, "pretty" and "ugly." And it's also the story of how we see ourselves, and how other people see us, and the tangled connection of the two
The List comes out April 1, 2012.
I'm not a fan of contemporary but this still sounds like a good read.

ReplyDeleteHere's MY WOW POST -
Oh yes I definitely want to read The List. It feels like one of those books that has the potential to make a major impact on the YA age group. And as the mom of 2 girls (granted they are young girls but still..) I am interested.

Ugh, as the aunt to my beautiful 11-year-old niece, it would break my heart to pieces for her to be picked on at school or to be called ugly. Kids can be SO cruel!
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds pretty interesting. May have to check it out :-)
Thanks for stopping by BlookGirl, earlier!
I am curious to see how this is handled in the book! It's like that site rateyourself.com (I think that's what it's called). Good choice!
ReplyDeleteNot a contemporary reader myself, but I hope you love this once it releases!

I think I chose this one last week or two weeks ago! :) It sounds fabulous and horrifying and potentially life changing. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I've got you excited about a new book. This one doesn't normally take my fancy, but the idea of having to be ranked is quite interesting. Definitely on my TBR list. Thanks xxx
